Afternoon cla

French Courses

We run French language courses for adults in small groups of maximum 4 students in blocks of one week upwards, or on an individual basis to suit your personal requirements.

All our immersion, intensive and specialist week courses run from Monday morning to Friday afternoon. Students staying with a French host usually arrive on the Sunday before the course begins and leave on the Friday afternoon or Saturday morning after the course finishes.

Our students come to us for many different reasons. For some it is a language holiday where they can share their enthusiasm for France with other students while improving their language skills. Others may need to use French for professional purposes. Or they are planning to buy a house in France and want to improve their French before they start negotiating. Some are struggling with adult education classes and need a boost. Exams could be looming and some intensive tuition would help. Some of our students simply love the sound the language and want to use it more confidently.

Whatever the reason we are sure you will enjoy participating in one of our courses and that you will make significant progress with your French language skills.

Total French Immersion Course

Come and live the language and speak French all day long on our immersion programme which includes 26 hours per week intensive French training in small groups of maximum 4 students, all course materials, accommodation (6 nights bed and breakfast and 5 evening meals) in the home of one of our carefully chosen French hosts and daily lunch at the school with fellow students and your teachers.

All levels.

Mornings Only French Immersion Course

We have many students who love their morning classes but would either like to relax or explore our wonderful area independently in the afternoons. The spring, summer and autumn months in Provence offer endless possiblities for discovery. Now our students can learn, relax and explore. In 2008 we are offering morning classes only, lunch (we see lunchtime in the presence of other students and teachers as a very important part of the overall training we offer) and a half-day excursion as an option in our French Immersion programme. The other afternoons can be spent at your leisure.

Which level to choose?

  • Level 1 - a confidence-building course for learners with limited language skills focusing on conversation. Topics include shopping, social situations (weather, health, sport, travel, holiday, personal information) and making simple arrangements.
  • Level 2 - aimed at the intermediate learner, this course encourages the student to communicate more fluently with native speakers, to be able to discuss a wide range of topics and handle many areas of grammar more confidently and accurately.
  • Level 3 - for the more advanced student this course explores in more depth many aspects of the French language, its uses in modern contexts, changes in vocabulary and usage and advanced discussions.

Our teachers use a communicative approach to language teaching with a significant focus on the spoken language and communication of ideas. The study of grammar and vocabulary will of course be included but will be taught within a context. Please throw away any pre-conceived notions about recital of irregular verbs!
